Halloween is a great time to show off your creativity and crafting skills by making your own decorations. In addition, this is a great activity that the whole family can participate in.
With the creepy celebration approaching, candles can be the perfect complement to your home decor because they create a weird atmosphere, but they also emit wonderful autumn scents such as cinnamon, orange, ginger or wood .
With this in mind, we asked Michelle and sister Louise, the founders of the small batch soy candle company & Chai in Hertfordshire, to provide us with the best tips on how to make beautiful Halloween candles in a few simple steps.
It doesn’t take long at all-but you do need a little patience while waiting for them to solidify so that you can demould them correctly.
&Chai’s Michelle and Louise candles are made of 100% soy wax, vegan, cruelty-free and more environmentally friendly.
According to the candle maker, it is a bit tricky to use, but all good craft shops may have their own mixtures that are easy for beginners to use.
For beginners, the sisters recommend that you also pick up the pre-waxed wick and purchase candle molds. One of their pumpkins comes from Etsy because we like to support other small businesses.
The founders Michelle and Louise are sisters and best friends for life. They like to cultivate their creativity. Their little shop & Chai was born in the spring of 2020, when my sister started to wonder what it would be like to hug Timmy and Tommy (the twin raccoons in the “Animal Crossing Friends” series) and what they would smell like.
Their core series inspired by “Animal Crossing” sold out in one day on Etsy, and they have never looked back since. Now, their fragrance library includes fragrances that we personally like or evoke old memories. What prompted you to start your own candle making business? When the first lockdown last year, we started making candles for fun. We picked up a set of DIY candle making kits, but soon realized that we like the process of making candles and saw all the components come together and more and more made.
We like perfume making and the science behind all of this-ensuring that the wax is always in its best condition.
Our candles are mainly container candles, but we are very proud of our clamshell design and the soybean melting of the pumpkin. They brought a little fun to relaxing at home!
