The origin of aromatherapy

Plant essential oil aromatherapy, also known as aromatherapy, is a type of aromatherapy. The use of the term aromatherapy began in 1928 by a French chemist, Rene-Maurice Gattefosse. Aromatherapy initially appeared directly as a plant prototype, and then processed into wire incense analogues, and then with the development of technology, it was slowly refined into thicker essential oils, and then made into aromatherapy essential oils, aromatherapy candles, spray aromatherapy, etc., but the most important thing is made of essential oils. The use of fragrance dates back to ancient times, and in ancient Egypt in 4500 BC, people had long learned to use the fragrance of spices to achieve the pursuit of beauty.

The ancient Greeks also used fresh or dried aromatic plants to achieve the effect of analgesia, and ancient Greek women also poured perfume on religious ceremonies, because they believed that perfume was made by God, so as long as they smelled perfume, it meant that the gods came to bless. By 30 BC, when the ancient Romans took over the Greek Empire, they also inherited the habit of using spices.

In China, located in the East, people believe that spices are symbols of wealth and power, and luxury goods in the upper class. In many major court events and religious ceremonies, incense burning is also used to clean the air. According to ancient books, the famous doctor Hua Tuo also used cloves and musk to make sachets and hang them in the patient’s room to achieve the effect of treating tuberculosis. It can be seen that the use of “incense” is also part of traditional culture in China.
